As part of the planning permission process, the proponent must undertake community consultation to inform a Social Impact Assessment and a Community Impact Statement. The consultation assists in identifying key positive and negative impacts as a result of the proposed development.
Please note that the development proposal is still within the initial stages of the development application process.
WHERE IS IT HAPPENING
The subject site, being Lot 3 Glenrock Drive, Googong is located within Googong Central, featured here.
HOW WILL IT HAPPEN
There are two elements to gaining approval for the operation of a licensed venue. This consists of:
A.
Development Application to Council. As part of this process a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) is required to support the application and provide any recommendations to enhance positive impacts and mitigate or manage adverse impacts; and
B.
Community impact statement (CIS) to support an application for a liquor licence to the NSW Liquor and Gaming.
To inform and assist with preparing the impact assessments, community and stakeholder consultation forms an integral part of the process. This provides an opportunity for people to share how they perceive the development proposal and the potential impacts that may affect their daily lives.
WHY WE ARE CONSULTING
Change in a community can be exciting but may also cause concern for some people. Being informed of possible change allows you to understand how the development proposal could affect the local community. The objective of consulting with the community is to engage with and understand the community’s opinions on the proposed development, with the intent to identify any social impacts both positive and negative. By understanding how the community feels about a possible change, the applicant has the opportunity to mitigate and manage possible concerns.
Googong Pub Trust is committed to transparent and informed communication to the public, with community consultation being conducted between 22 March 2023 and 21 April 2023. Further consultation will be undertaken by Queanbeyan–Palerang Regional Council in accordance with their community participation plan post lodgement of the development application.
